Winter wonderland and a magazine to give away

I'm here again! I felt an urge to tell the world about this view outside my window! We woke up to winter wonderland this morning, the kids have probably never got into their clothes so fast before! Please Santa, or whoever decides about these matters, let us have a white Christmas and winter this year! The last winters have been awfully wet and grey, let this stay! By the way, did you now that Santa Claus lives up in Finnish Lapland? They fly in hoards of tourists every year that want to deliver their wish lists personally. I uploaded more pictures from my wonderland walk on flickr, if you want to see more snow.

So this means I'm officially out of the Christmas closet, what can be better than serious Christmas crafting to the tones of The most relaxing Christmas album in the world...ever! with the view above outside the window! In the evening I enjoy a cup of glögg while stuffing tomte limbs in candle light. Everything to make working at night more joyful.

Last but not least this magazine with my tomte sitting on the cover came in the mail today :) I've got two issues of it so I thought I'd give one away to one of you. Just leave a comment here telling me about one of your Christmas projects and I'll draw a winner early next week.

Snow on Christmas is magical. I hope for the same. I'm completing a dresden plate table topper for my mom. Little fabric baskets for some special ladies. Many flannel pillowcases. And I just mailed my gifts to my Secret Santa Swap Partner. I might sneak in a few more projects. Your tomten are just darling.

What a beautiful view - quite magical. I'm busy this morning making a stack of embroidered Christmas cards for a sale on Saturday... but I needed a break so came on the computer! (I wouldn't be able to read the magaizine if I won but it looks beautiful!)

How lovely! I do love the sparkly, wintery magic of snow. My Christmas projects so far are stockings, with folkloric ribbon and lots of pompom fringe, a tree skirt, and a few little gifts for others (and myself!), like velvet ribbon headbands and tea cozies.

Congratulations on having your work featured in the magazine! Thank you for the giveaway!

I am working on so many Christmas projects. I am basically making everything from what I already have from my stash. Money is tight this year but my family loves my handmade ornaments and such. Thanks for the magazine!

Hmmm, wishing for snow is definitely 1 Christmas project...-but finishing a good warm sweater for my bigsister is another.

Finally I must write lots of Christmas cards to my friends and family ;0)

Doubtful we'll get snow like that here on the wet west coast of Canada. So lovely to see it. I've got a big box of vintage glass ornaments that I've been scouring the thrift shops for destined to become a wreath. Bring on the glue gun!

I haven't made any Christmas decorations in YEARS, but this year, I'm hoping to make a few things. I bought some simple wooden folk-style hearts for ornaments, and I picked out some pretty papers with the idea of making birds. Also, I want to make a wreath wrapped in dark green gingham adorned with crocheted flowers. I would also love to make some stockings, but I think my list is already too ambitious!

Congratulations on making the cover!

Oh I'm so very jealous. I love snow. We got some in the middle of October half term holiday for one day. We went into the cinema and it was fine. We came out and it was white everywhere and still falling.
I've been making Christmas decorations - trees and snowmen. I plan to make some little embroidered angels/fairies and some stuffed fabric hearts with little pearl button sewn on. There are so many other ideas stuffed inside my head, it's whether I'll get the time to make them all. :o)
I'm sure with snow, candles, Christmas music and glogg I'd be much more productive. Will have to give it a go.

Oh... I wish we had snow here as well, but all we have is tourists coming in looking for the sunny Spain!! Anyway, on my first patchworking semester, we are going to make a supercute christmas tree decorated with buttons (I bought a whole bunch from an etsy store and can't wait to get them on the mail!). I guess the advent calendar will have to wait until next year :-)

You are so lucky to live in a place so adequate for Christmas time! I come from France (Alsace near Germany) where this period is very important. I will make the traditional little biscuits, some with chocolate, some with a bretzel shape others to hang on the Christmas tree. Our house will have the smell of the oranges with cloves and maybe a pine scented candle. This year it's also important because my baby will have his first Christmas, he is 9 months old now so he won't realise I think, but I will make a very colorful tree he will enjoy for sure.
The presents for my family will be mostly homemade because of the crisis here and also because it's better a big present made with the heart than a little cheap present, don't you think so? I will go to a studio in Paris where you can buy a plate or bowl or anything in white porcelain, then you paint it and they put it in a professional oven. After that you go back home with your piece.

have a very nice Christmas time!

I have too many gifts to finish up. At the moment I am making floor cushions for my friend's boys, they need to be done so I can mail them overseas.

I would love a little snow, in fact, could you send me some over? Right now we have wind, rain and some more wind, then that bright low lying sunshine that gets right into your eyes as you're trying to drive.

Oh you lucky lucky girl - having that view and snow outside your window! I'm planning on making the children's christmas presents this year (I always make them things for their birthdays) and have explained to them that we will not be spending lots of money because of the recession so I am having great fun choosing what I am going to do for each one!

Maybe I'll make a kind of tomte this year for a gift to my mum. We both like yours very much. I was thinking to make her a cozy pillow, and that pillow can be a really chubby tomte. What do you think?
Thank you for this lovely giveaway, I'd love to see it in person.

WOW! SNOW! It almost never snows in Vancouver and if it does it reeks havoc because no one is ever prepared!

I am making a white and aqua striped patchwork star for the top of my tree this year! At least that is the plan. I am also making a whole bunch of felt food to fit into a mini shopping basket for my daughter's gift.

If I receive the magazine it will be put on display and admired for a long long time!!!

Hugs, Laurraine

We just had our first "real" snow, although it didn't amount to much. I wish I had had the chance to dance around in it, but alas I have a sick baby to care for today. Congrats on the cover photo!

My Christmas project is to simply stay sane. We are travelling to Mexico for two weeks with my family - a dying father, a pregnant and crazy sister, and my Hubby is who not happy with any of them lately. Oh, did I mention that it is 7 adults and 5 kids under 6 in one house? If only I could bring my quilting with me...

Hi,

What a nice blog you have. Yup, I guess everybody tries to save some money this x-mas. I am working on a coat for my daughter, and all my friends get handmade ornaments this year. I started this tradition last year, and everybody loved them. At some point I'll post some in my blog for all interested bloggers to enjoy.

What a generous gift to giveaway a magazine.

Have a wonderful holiday season

Our landscape looks like the one of your photo right now. Today will be a clear blue sky and I am sure it will be beautiful outside.

Usually I make paper stars for windows at this time of a year and bake gingerbread cookies as well. So that we all know that the holiday season is almost there.
